[vow renewal] Ashley & Dominic, Crystal Bay & The Kala, Koh Samui

Last November I had the absolute amazing honour of photographing Ashley & Dominic’s 10 year anniversary vow renewal. Ashley is my kinda woman. Quirky, upbeat and so much FUN to be around ๐Ÿ˜‰ Apparently she wasn’t 100% on the day but I knew nothing of it until she told me afterwards! They decided to renew their wedding vowels at Crystal Bay where the sand is white & water soft blue. Their wedding ceremony was intimate and for just the two of them. And as soon as Ash and Dom recommitted to each other, we popped open some bubbly to celebrate! ย  I met Ash and Dom at the Kala, their resort where they were getting ready not too far from where their ceremony took place & we started the party there with some music we all agreed was awesome. ๐Ÿ˜‰ ย  ย  ย  Ashley is a very talented professional hair and makeup artist back in the UK, and I think I might have just been able to convince her and Dom to move here for a bit… I can’t wait! ย  Ashley’s dress was from Monsoon, and she had the neckline and back modified to suit her style a bit

[honeymoon] Nancy and Shawn, Chaweng Beach Sunrise, Koh Samui

Yippee to the first blog of 2014!!! And to start the year off I’m WAAAYY behind, haha. Nancy and Shawn, I’m so sorry! Better late than never is what they say, so I’m happy to finally be showcasing your gorgeous images.. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Nancy and Shawn visited Samui for the last stopover of their adventurous and romantic honeymoon. Nancy decided she wanted some photos to capture some memories from her and Shawn’s amazing honeymoon and contacted me spontaneously, fingers crossed.   When I met her, Nancy told me she hadn’t planned on having photographs taken and being a lover of photography herself, she just felt that it should happen and contacted me in secret without telling Shawn. ๐Ÿ˜‰ (That’s the best way to do it, girll.) They met at school in Xinzheng where Nancy teaches at high school and Shawn the corresponding university. Three years of dating later and they were pronounced husband & wife. The photographs are taken on Chaweng Beach. We had an amazing time together watching the sunrise and laughing, and I can’t have imagined a better way to spend an early morning!   I love Nancy’s dress that she decided to wear! I love the colours of her tie

[personal] New Year, New Beginnings…

Dear 2013, …What can I say? It’s been a big year for my boyfriend Nek and I. We both started our businesses (officially of course, not counting the months prior which involved lots of planning in preparation) in February and it’s been a roller coaster of experiences to say the least. We’ve had ups and downs and round and rounds haha! I’m proud to say that we’ve both been successful in our ventures, hopes and dreams and in this year we have grown together more than our first two years together ๐Ÿ˜‰ Love you, babe! I’m so grateful to all the lovely clients and friends I’ve made and had the chance to photograph and I can’t wait for what 2014 has to offer ๐Ÿ˜‰ Through this journey so far I’ve met some amazing industry colleagues and made great friendships with wedding industry professionals as well as other photographers and I’m so happy to be lucky enough to be doing something I love so much. Now that I’ve started I can’t imagine doing anything else! I love the freedom of working for myself, meeting and getting to know these amazing women and men I get to call clients and I love photographing

[personal] Merry Christmas… (Thai Style)

It’s a time when I hate to say it… but I get homesick. I miss my family, being all the way over here in Thailand. I send presents and we put up a tree but somehow it’s just not the same, you know? (Well, clearly with a tree made out of books! I’m ashamed to say that this year this December has been too busy [which is great in a way, don’t get me wrong] for us to put up our real tree… yep, I guess there’s a first for everything!) Nek and I have started a Christmas Day tradition of our own in a way, and we’ve spent the past few Christmases as a beach day ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s fun and we’re still pinching ourselves that this is the year we are lucky enough to run our own businesses and give ourselves a day off!  I love it.  Here’s some of the 2013 Christmas Day fun we got up to….. Now, I’m off to photograph one of my last & beautiful 2013 couples for the sunset this afternoon! Happy Friday! xx ……….……….……….

[honeymoon] Jess and Steven, Sareeraya, Chaweng Beach, Koh Samui

Jessica and Steven married in Hong Kong in style with 300+ guests… and I know this because I’ve seen some of their gorgeous wedding photos! They chose Samui as their honeymoon destination, and it turned out to be the perfect place to wind down and relax. We were up early morning for their gorgeous sunrise photography session on Chaweng beach, where the sun rises just right… over the water and kissing everything it touches softly as it goes. We laughed, and had some great fun during the session as we had already met at Mini Bar the days they arrived.  We met in the early hours of the morning at Sareeraya and started by taking a walk down the beach together… I love that Jess brought some of the props from their wedding with her! What a cute touch to add the their photographs! I love that Jess’s ‘J’ has a veil! How cute!! How beautiful is Jess?? Seriously, this lady is stunning ๐Ÿ™‚ Chaweng Beach in the morning is beautiful, and nice and quiet, perfect for a walk a long the beach.  Haha, Jess later told me Steven isn’t an early riser! Well neither am I haha, I think

[proposal] Brina and Rafael, Hansar Samui, Bophut, Koh Samui

When Natalie told me she was working on a wedding proposal for a lucky lady I could hardly contain my excitement… Now contrary to most clients, I didn’t get to have any initial prior contact with Rafael, or Brina as they were both in Spain and Rafael had a hard time multitasking between planning the proposal in Samui and keeping it a surprise from Brina! On the evening of the big surprise Natalie, Ad and I all huddled up at the Hansar bar… and I must admit the adrenaline made me feel like I was a spy… Especially when Brina and Rafael arrived early and got a drink at the bar right opposite us before they went to sit down at dinner! haha ๐Ÿ˜‰ I got some photographs of the beautiful setup Natalie and Rafael had prepared… gorgeous roses and orchids everywhere, candles on the table and in the sand, torches to light the way… What girl would not squeal at the sweetness of it… ๐Ÿ™‚ I loved these candles in the sand… such a simple touch but it made their ‘dinner’ all the more special ๐Ÿ™‚ How beautiful is the setup… Brina told me after the proposal that the

[wedding] Elizabeth & Jim, Ama Lur, Thong Krut, Koh Samui

Getting married in Thailand was the obvious choice for Elizabeth & Jim, they used to live here in mainland Thailand between Hua Hin & Pattaya 7 years ago. They chose to have a beautiful intimate ceremony with their close family at Ama Lur in the small fisherman’s village of Thong Krut in the South of the island. Elizabeth & Jim being Scottish blended their special day between the Thai and Scottish cultures and traditions perfectly. I loved everything about being a part of their day and feel so lucky to have been a part of it! Elizabeth & Jim,THANK YOU so much for letting me capture and share these special moments with you! They chose to have their intimate celebration at Ama Lur a stunning villa in Thong Krut a small and quaint fishermans village on the South of the island.   Elizabeth had her dress tailor made out of Thai silk as she loves everything Thai. The simple elegant design suited her and the wedding day perfectly.. I loved it! I think saying that Ama Lur is a beautiful villa is a total understatement… I mean check out these amazing views and gardens! Lovely hair and makeup for Elisabeth

[honeymoon] Rita and Steven, Chaweng Beach & Crystal Bay

Rita and Steven played together as children without knowing they were destined to be together… Rita giggled as she told me her side of the story (and there’s always two sides!). These two could not be more perfect for each other and show it in the most adorable ways. The first time we met, I watched as Rita pulled medicine she’d packed in her handbag to make sure Steven’s cold symptoms didn’t get the better of him, and the way Steven looks at her when she’d being herself and having fun is just too cute! Thank you so much for choosing me as your honeymoon photographer in Thailand! I had an absolute ball photographing you two and getting to know you both! We started bright and early for Rita and Steven’s sunrise honeymoon photography, and headed to Chaweng Beach to begin with. Rita’s soft pink dress (one of her bridesmaid’s dresses, I love how she found another use for it!) swirled in the wind as they walked hand in hand watching the sun start to rise up over the water. Slight waves rolled in gently towards as, and we all knew we’d picked a good day. Here; I’ll the the

[wedding] Laura and Richard, Beach Republic, Lamai Beach, Koh Samui

I really don’t know where to start with this blog post… Laura and Richard’s wedding was AH-MAZING and I’m not sure if I’ll be able to describe the pure awesomeness of their day but I’ll give it a go! After meeting them for their Pre-Wedding and getting to know them, I was so excited for what their day would turn out to be! Laura was so relaxed and chill maybe it was being back on Koh Samui, or maybe it was just all the fun they’d been having so far. Their guests had been slowly arriving on the island and Laura and Rich had been showing everyone around and making sure that this was the wedding/holiday for everyone to remember… They chose to have their wedding at the beautiful Beach Republic, and Julie the Resident Manager there helped plan and decorate everything for them… Their wedding date fell on her birthday as well so we all got to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ too! Here goes…their day turned out to be more fun than anything I could’ve imagined ๐Ÿ™‚ I love Laura and Rich’s invitations made to look like passports! I think Rich had been dreaming of getting this shot since waaay

[pre-wedding] Laura and Richard, Crystal Bay, Koh Samui

We planned to meet at Crystal Bay resort and go from there. Laura sent me a message worried about the weather, and we decided to just go with it, and I’m so happy we did! Take a look at how gorgeous these photos & the weather turned out!  Richard first saw Laura in Top Man while shopping and ended up buying something just to get to talk to her. Later that night at the pub, he was being introduced by mutual friends to her and her boyfriend at the time. Apparently there was a lot of Facebook stalking for some crazy amount of time, and in the end it was ‘Rich’ (as Laura loves to call him) sending her a Facebook message asking if she was still dating anyone that sealed the deal of their first date. Now Laura and I actually have a great talent in common… clumsiness, and yes, I say it’s a talent as it’s very useful to entertain people when they need a laugh! Which is exactly how she helped calm the nerves of their first date… slipping and spilling hot chocolate all over herself and the floor! I love that as I’ve given up trying

[travel] Romantic Things To Do on Samui during your Wedding or Honeymoon :) [Part 1]

There are many things to do and lots of sights to see which you can find out about by doing a quick Google search or asking at your hotel’s information desk. Being a wedding photographer and having lived here for over 12 years in total, I get asked by my clients what I can recommend to do and where to go all the time. My clients who are couples here for their wedding or honeymoon always want to spend that time together, so I thought I’d write up some of my favorite romantic things to do together during your wedding holiday or honeymoon on Samui! It’s the holiday of your lifetime and only happens once,  so make it as romantic as possible ๐Ÿ™‚ Some basic information about Koh Samui to start with; Samui is the second largest island in Thailand, so it is quite commercial and tourist friendly yet not as much so as Phuket. The island is easy to navigate on your own if you choose to rent a car or motorbike during your stay, the main ring road takes you full circle around the island along the coast, and stopping off at landmarks and viewpoints along the way

[honeymoon] Olga and Artem, Centara Villas Samui, Maret, Koh Samui

My friend, K. Dudy at Centara Grand contacted me saying she’d referred me to a couple of her guests staying at Centara Villas Samui, at first I thought it might have been a different kind of photography to what I specialised in. So when Olga texted me I was happily surprised to read that her and Artem were on their honeymoon ๐Ÿ™‚  I so enjoyed getting to know you both, and even in such a short amount of time I feel like we’ve become friends! They met while studying on exchange in England and found out there, in another country, that they were attending the same university back in Russia. The details of their story are safe in their hearts and even to outsiders, it’s clear that they fell in love there. She talks about him and giggles and you can just tell how head over heels she still is, seven years later, having just married the man of her dreams. Thank you both so much for choosing me as your photographer in Thailand, I enjoyed every minute I spent with you two! Here’s to a marriage that’s even happier than your honeymoon! xx We started with some photographs in
