[holiday] Elke and Terry, Inter Continental, Taling Ngam, Koh Samui

When Elke started contacting me for Terry and her holiday photography, I instantly liked her. She had such a nice personality and talked about Terry like he means the world to her.  We planned to meet before their photography session to chat and get to know each other and I couldn’t wait for it! I walked to their hotel one night and took them to Mini Bar as they were coincidentally staying near there, and we all clicked right away. Terry is clearly a gentleman and I can see why Elke is so smitten! This is actually their first overseas holiday together (if we don’t count Macau, said Terry), and I loved hearing about all the fun they got up to. Elke and Terry, if I ever get over to Hong Kong I’ll surely be sending you an email. It was soo fun to get to photograph you two, and I can’t wait to catch up next time I see you. In Thailand or Hong Kong!   .. ……….……….……….

[wedding] Ha and Chris, The Residence 1 – Miskawaan, Koh Samui, Thailand

I knew I would love working with Chris and Ha as soon as I met them and found out they’re Australian, and my feelings were reinforced on their special day. I love being surrounded by a bunch of Aussies, wedding day or not we’ve got a lot to talk about 😉 Ha was so relaxed spending time with her favorite women all getting ready together, including Chris’s mum, whom Ha helped do her makeup. Chris and the guys were at ease watching sports and having some beers while getting ready. Then they fell into each others arm like naturals, not even taking notice of the camera and just enjoying and savoring the moments together after their ceremony. Ha and Chris, thank you so much for choosing me to be your wedding photographer in Thailand. I loved every minute of spending your wedding day with you and your families, you were so much fun!   Ha and Chris decided to stay and have their ceremony at the beautiful brand new The Residence 1, of Miskawaan Villas in Maenam. It proved to be the perfect backdrop for these two and their lovely families and close friends to spend the afternoon and night

[wedding] Emily and Greg, Ama Lur, Thong Krut, Koh Samui

Emily, this place suits you too well, I could tell from the second  time we accidentally ran into each other in the Nature Art Gallery, you had a hibiscus in your hair and looked like you were glowing!  You fall into the pace here so quickly and the chilled vibe just exudes from you and Greg! Greg told me they had met 15 years ago and were introduced, in the end, by mutual friends. He was the last to get to know Emily, but clearly the one to love her for everything she is. Greg is definately a lucky man, Emily is the kind of woman you’d want by your side. She’s down to earth, kind and soft spoken but will tell it like it is. Being together for 14 years builds a bit of pressure on trying to propose to the woman of your dreams, and Greg had to try his third time lucky until he could finally pop the question… but that’s a story you’ll have to get Greg to tell you. I can’t do it justice, it’s way more hilarious when he explains it 😉 Emily and Greg, I feel so honoured to have been chosen as

[wedding] Pen and Nick, Beach Republic, Koh Samui.

What a beautiful day it was at Lamai Beach’s Beach Republic wedding. Pen and Nick wanted to have a wedding that reflected both of their families’ backgrounds and opted to have Thai monks offer blessings before their western wedding ceremony. After a quick dress change from the monk ceremony, Pen arrived from the beach on an Elephant with her family to give her away.  The weather was just perfect and sunset was close to follow after just in time for some lovely bridal portraits. Congratulations to a gorgeous and fun couple, it is always a pleasure to work with such lovely people!     What a beautiful setting to have your wedding with an intimate group of friends and family!     Pen’s two daughters were flower girls and her nephew was the ring bearer.. how cute are they?   Pen’s very own princess moment was when she arrived to the weddng ceremony on an elephant! She loved it 🙂 Ohh, Pen! What a beautiful bride you make 😀     Pen and Nick are the kind of couple who enjoy having a laugh together, and I loved capturing that and joning in on their fun for the moment. ……….……….……….

[personal] Songkran – The Thai New Year

The modern Songkran festival is a day filled with fun and a whole lot of water throwing, spraying, squirting and blasting (if you’re lucky enough to have a fire hose in close vicinity, which surprisingly enough happened to us – being blasted that is, not blasting others). The origins of this day were the traditional New Year celebrations, as you see in many religions and places there is a special day around the time of April; Christianity’s Easter holiday, India’s Holi colour festival and China’s Ching Ming ancestral worship. All these special holidays occur around this time because in the past, celebrating New Year at the time of the Vernal Equinox was very common. Some people believe April Fool’s was borne to mock the people who refused to accept the change of the New Year from April to January in the 16th Century. Songran’s date was originally set by astrological calculations, however it has since been set to the 13th of April each year. Songkran is celebrated over three days and is extended to five days if the dates fall over a weekend. This time of year usually marks when most Thai people travel back to their home provinces to

[wedding] Sarah and Hagen, Beach Republic, Koh Samui.

Having met Sarah and Hagen the day before their wedding to talk through the events and get to know them  helped calm my nerves leading up to the day as it was my first wedding working as the official photographer. After the meeting, I seriously knew I couldn’t have asked for a more gorgeous couple, inside and out. At the end of their wedding day I really didn’t want to leave. I felt like I’d just made two new really great friends 🙂 Sarah’s family travelled from Hong Kong, Hagen’s from Germany to meet on Koh Samui. The Beach Republic has a special place in their hearts as well, as they spend a couple of weeks a year there at their apartment if work allows it. Not only is Sarah a very smart woman, being a doctor in Sydney, she is crafty and creative as well! She hand made all the cute metal signs you see in my photos, mostly in the plane on the way here! Sarah & Hagen I wish you all the happiness and love in the world and I hope to bump in to you both on your next holiday on Samui 🙂 I was very

[honeymoon] Amanda and Michael, Chaweng and Crystal Bay, Koh Samui

A while ago I had the amazing chance to meet and photograph a simply gorgeous couple of fellow Aussies, and I’ve got to tell you it felt so great to be able to joke around and act like the goof I am trying to get these two to laugh in front of my lense! At least we could fall back and relax knowing that we would get each other’s crazy Aussie humour (I hope!). Amanda and Michael, I am soo happy you got up at the crack of dawn to take some photographs of your honeymoon.. you are seriously too cute together! I love how you whispered sweet secrets into each others ears and left me to capture your love, and I know our morning didn’t feel so much like a photoshoot as much as just chillin’, Koh Samui style. I hope with all my heart you enjoyed it as much as I did! TRULY looking forward to your next visit to Thailand! xxx Enjoy your time together before you head back to work, hopefully these pictures will bring you back to Samui even if it’s just for a few minutes 🙂 ……….……….……….

[holiday] Dani, Alex and Nicole, Maenam and Taling Ngam, Koh Samui

A while ago I had the amazing pleasure and honour to photograph my two gorgeous friends Danielle and Alex and Alex’s sister, Nicole. I have known Dani since I started working at the hotel here and she is one of the sweetest people, we love having a good laugh together and when she finally introduced me to Alex who I had been hearing about for months I was ecstatic because she was just as gorgeous, inside and out as Dani had described her to be. I knew they would be the perfect girls for me and when we set up a date and got together early one Sunday morning for our first shoot little did we know how much fun we would end up having together. So when Alex told me her sister would be visiting us on Koh Samui shortly before Dani and Alex were due to go back home, I asked if we would be able to have another shoot. Seriously girls, thank you for a great morning and evening… I had so much fun cracking terrible jokes with you guys and telling silly stories, time flew by and we didn’t even get to all the locations we

Catch those rare rays of sunlight and don’t let go!

After nearly a week of rainy weather here on Koh Samui the skies cleared up for us all to have a wonderful day on Sunday. It was sweet, a welcome break from the rush life seems to be bringing us these days. We didn’t do anything highly entertaining, but I still feel like I accomplished something. Peace, quiet and relaxation. Those are moments I hardly ever allow myself. Working full time while trying to start up a small photography business for yourself is hard, I’ll give you that. Around the time my to-do list became a to-do book, I started to feel more like I was becoming an expert procrastinator, I bet could show you how to procrastinate with 100% efficiency, no kidding.  This was my favorite part of yesterday, spending 4PM at the beach 🙂 This is Lufie, our six month pup 🙂 Happy Monday <3 ……….……….……….

Sunsets and goals

I know my journey isn’t any harder or easier than anyone else’s, but sometimes I find myself fall into this rut. I find myself listening to the voice inside my head telling me I can’t do this from where I am, there are not photographers around to let me second shoot… I know I need to ignore that and push through, keep on running towards the finish line of where my goals are and learn how to muffle the sound of that voice along the way. I’ll be honest, this scares me. What I want to do. It scares me so much so that fits of nervous, hot tears have burst out of my eyes at times when I have been required to appear in control, preparing myself for something big. In the past few months I have seen my dreams morph into ideas and those ideas begin to form the basis of what is to be my future. Even from turning something I never used to think was possible into something this refined shocks me, and I am proud to see it happen. I want to begin showing some of the photographs I have been taking lately, this is

Thanks to YOU, I made it here!

(to this post) HAHA! No but seriously, I just want to express my gratitude towards all the inspiring photographers out there in the online community today, because without your help I would be writing this. I wouldn’t have taken ANY of these baby steps (on second thought they are probably smaller than baby steps, more like a newborn puppy’s steps) towards turning this hobby, this love into a profession. You got that right, this blog was on my to-do list of working my way towards my goal… and I crossed it off yesterday!!! Now the only thing to figure out is what to write about….
