Baan Talay, Chaweng Beach Holiday Session: Selena + Michael

Selena and Michael are the loveliest couple from Sydney who come on holiday to Thailand often, Michael has a hilarious friend who lives in Phuket and travelled around with them. I feel so lucky to have such lovely clients like this who not only are amazing people inside but who can make walking on the beach and talking photos feel so effortless, like I’m hanging out with old friends and make my job all the more fulfilling! 🙂 They were staying at Baan Talay on Chaweng beach, which is where we met and started our photography session. Then we headed down to the beach for some cool photos, it was so nice and windy 🙂 Selena was just so beautiful… inside and out and I’m so lucky to have people like her ask me to photograph them! We also found out after chatting for a bit that we’re the same age! Michael thinks we’re both too young haha 😉 We saw this huge storm roll in from out at sea and had to run for shelter as it was bucketing down. Then after about 15 minutes or worrying our session was runied, we got beautiful clear skies again! Plus, an awesome misty sea

Bandara Resort & Spa Samui Wedding: Rhea + Gavin

Gavin saw Rhea across the room in a crowded bar and instantly knew he wanted to get to know her. It was easter weekend, nearly six years ago. Rhea was out with a group of her friends celebrating the start of another great season of Gaelic Football with her teammates. They chatted for a while and sparks flew 😉 A few days later Gavin turned up to his first day of practice with the mixed football team he’d joined and -I didn’t get the exact details on this- but I think his jaw must have dropped when he saw Rhea jog past. They’ve been adventuring together ever since. They had decided on the Bandara Resort & Spa as the place to get married a they loved everything whole 2 years ago! They loved Gie, the resident wedding planner extraordinaire there at Bandara and everything she came up with. The day started off nice and hot and relaxed with the girls getting ready in one of the villas. Rhea and her bridesmaids did their own makeup and they had their friend do their hair, she did a stunning job… wait till you see! Meanwhile Gavin and the boys got ready together in a seperate part

Elements Boutique Resort Samui Wedding: Krystal + Daniel

Krystal and Daniel are two of the most laid back and relaxed people I’ve met, and I think their wedding day reflected that  part of their personalities perfectly. I was lucky enough to meet up with them last time I was in Melbourne with Nek in November last year, we all had dinner in the Docklands and laughed a whole lot! So I was so excited to get to spend more time with them on their wedding day! They chose the Elements Boutique Resort as their wedding venue, and it was so lovely there on the day. The resort is situated in the South-West corner of the island in Phangka, Taling Ngam. It’s such a beautiful, quiet location… one of the coolest places to have a wedding! Here’s how the day started: Krystal chose the cutest colourful dresses for her bridesmaids, I love them! Krystal had the talented Polina + her team to do her hair and makeup + she was so happy with it… wait ’til you see her below! Don photographed the boys getting ready in a different style… I seriously love this photo that Don took of Daniel! So cool! The girls were just as excited as Krystal 🙂 Sooner

Villa Riva, Koh Samui Wedding : Kerry + Mark

These two people are two of the kindest souls + sweetest couples. Let Met tell you a bit about them… Kerry and Mark met at a mutual friends’ party and became friends. Mark decided he liked Kerry early on and she knocked him back at first. Although Kerry says it was a “strategic knock back” haha. They stayed friends and went on a group holiday with some friends to Penang, Malaysia and it was there that he finally won her over. Very good strategy, Kerry, scoring a first date in Malaysia! 😉 They got married at Villa Riva after Alexa showed them around last year, they knew it would be perfect for their more intimate wedding party with their friends and family. They decided to have their ceremony on the platform down by the beach, so Alexa drew this sign… such a multitalented lady 🙂 Villa Riva has so many pretty nooks and crannies everywhere you look there’s a photo op! Kerry chose there stunning dresses for her bridesmaids, so flowy and they went with her dress perfectly! Meanwhile Don was off photographing the boys and their “Happy Socks” which were such a fun idea! I loved them!  I was

OZO Chaweng Samui Wedding, Koh Samui: Kirsty + Jared

What a long (and AWESOME) journey it feels like I’ve been on with Kirsty and Jared since our first meeting at Mini Bar around August last year, to their engagement session in Melbourne (which I’ll be blogging in a little while) while Nek and I were visiting last November, to their WEDDING which was just about 1.5 weeks ago! They are still on their ‘honeymoon’ celebrating on the island in a beautiful private villa somewhere, so hopefully this is a nice surprise for them, to get to see some photos! 🙂 Kirsty and Jared decided from the very beginning that the Ozo Chaweng Samui would be the perfect venue for them… and it was!  Situated in the heart of Chaweng, it was so easy for all their guests to go out shopping, enjoy the nightlife and of course… eat!   Kirsty and Jared  went with navy blue and purple for their colours which I loved! Kirsty and Jared met in London and instantly became close friends, something just clicked. Jared is originally from South Africa, however he’d grown up in Australia and settled right in there in Melbourne.  Kirsty is part of a big Aussie family (their street is even named after them!) and is a very

Koh Tao Beach Club + Sairee Beach Love Story: Tamara + Rico

I was super stoked when Tamara contacted me to go and photograph her and her boyfriend, Rico on Koh Tao. Not just because I love Koh Tao, but also  because Tamara is a photographer herself in the Netherlands, so it is such a HUGE compliment for me to be asked by another professional to capture their memories! You can take a look at Tamara’s blog here. We started our session off near where Tamara + Rico were staying at the Koh Tao Beach Club. There were some beautiful rocks which Tamara and Rico loved because there’s nothing like this in the Netherlands. I love how these two just fall effortlessly into each others’ arms and make snuggling up in front of the camera look easy. We decided to walk the short distance up to Sairee Beach for some more photos, and found this awesome spot with Koh Nangyuan in the background. Rico also owns his own business back in the Netherlands (from what I understand…) it’s an awesome adventure training fun day for corporate companies to send their employees off to. Which sounds like so much fun to run, to me anyway! That Koh Tao sunset makes me sighhhh…. So, so beautiful,

10 best love quotes of all time

I think certain months (as a result of marketing) have come to hold a bit of pressure in certain ways. Take December for example; there’s Christmas, New Years’ Eve, and (in Thailand) Fathers Day, not to mention the inevitable ‘End of Year Crisis’ as I like to call it. So much happening in the one month. Everything is expected (and does) go out with a bang. Suddenly it’s January and you’re (I’m) left feeling depleted, like I somehow missed the mark. Didn’t get around to send Christmas cards, keeping on top of all those work commitments or managing to celebrate with your family? Yep, me neither. Now it’s February and in a few days it’ll be Valentines Day, which I’m sure it’s being marketed like crazy in Australia and other parts of the world, luckily, it’s a bit more subtle where I am (actually, I’m writing this post from Penang, Malaysia – you can follow along on my Instagram) so I don’t feel as much pressure to make Valentines Day be, well, Valentines Day. So, since we are approaching it, I thought I’d start up a new series on my blog. Welcome to ‘Fridays In Love’ where I’ll either be sharing one of my clients’ love stories or writing

Conrad Samui Love Story: Sandy + Barry

Sandy was referred to me by my amazing past client, now friend [and photography enthusiast], Justin! I’m SO grateful to Justin + Terry (they have actualy referred me to two of their friends who eneded up booking a session with me!), I can tell you right now, there is no bigger compliment that recommending me to your friends! So I chatted with Sandy leading up to our session, the more I did, the more I came to adore her. They stayed at the Conrad, Koh Samui and I went to meet them there to take them down to a beach closeby for the first portion of our session. Sandy + Barry are such a cute couple and I couldn’t have hoped to spend the afternoon with nicer people! I loved getting to know them as a couple and watch them begin to relax in front of my camera after a bit things became natural and we just had fun with it! I love piggy backs and so does Sandy. 😀 Uhhhh, SO beautiful! I had fun discovering this must’ve been how Barry secretly won her over, with his awesome foot massage powers 😉 We stopped for some quick refreshments before

Mini Bar, Koh Samui Beach Bar

Mini Bar is a small beach bar located in the heart of Chaweng. Nek and I started this beach bar at the same time I started working full time as a wedding photographer, and we are both so proud of for far we’ve come. 🙂 These days I’ve stepped away from working at Mini Bar so much and only go and help out when the boys need me, but Nek works there every day and you’re guaranteed to have a nice relaxing time there! Last year, we received 5 stars from all the lovely reviews our awesome customers have been leaving us on TripAdvisor! We have a range of delicious fresh fruit to make yummy icy shakes for you to enjoy while it’s hot. Group bookings, this was from one of our couples’ welcome parties. Mini Bar cocktails come in nice big jars for you to enjoy 🙂 Just after the sun sets, dusk is so beautiful at Mini Bar. Mini Bar Mojitos for two! Our speakers are handmade inside some bamboo, we love them! There’s Nek taking some orders 😉 EXTRA TIPS WHERE: Right on Chaweng Beach. Get directions here. WHEN: Come just before sunset (maybe around 5 pm)

Impiana Samui Resort & Spa Wedding: Catherine + Filippo

Catherine + Filippo are two people from completely different sides of the globe. New Zealand + Italy. When Catherine decided to move to Italy and teach, she had no idea that she would fall so head over heels with not only the country she moved to but the people, the language, culture and its FOOD. Catherine + Filippo got married in St. Anna’s Church which ensured they had a lovely ceremony with their closest friends and family as witnesses.

Anantara Bophut and Ban Tai Beach Engagement: Kerry + Charles

Kerry and Charles were referred to me by one of my awesome past clients (now friend!), so we instantly became friends as soon as we met! They have been together almost 11 years and are now planning their wedding somewhere in Asia, destination still undecided. I am SO happy to have had the chance to meet and become friends with these lovely people!  <3   I loved spending the afternoon with these two beautiful people, the way that Charles looks at Kerry is just adorable and then just laughs at her when she decides break out into dance, or start a thumb war during the photo session 😉       Next, we headed down to Ban Tai beach for some sunset photos, and boy did we get a beautiful sunset that evening! Kerry and Charles loved it so much, and I did too, of course! I’m so happy to get to share moments my client treasure with them. Just wait until you see… 🙂                 I hope you enjoyed these photos as much as I did taking them! If you’re interested in having a similar photo session, or just want to chat, please feel
